Philadelphia Parking Authority

Philly Needs Wheelchair Accessible Taxis

On Tuesday, July 26, the Unified Taxi Workers Alliance (UTWA), Disabled in Action and ADAPT/Liberty Resources, Inc. honored the 21st Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act by rallying in protest of the Philadelphia Parking Authority’s failure to purchase wheelchair accessible taxis.  See a photo slideshow of the rally here.

People's meeting on the Philadelphia Parking Authority

I have met this group and they have a sincere grievance on the PPA, just like taxi drivers do. Do you think this agency represents the City of Brotherly Love? Do you think your car should be towed for $150 plus ticket when 6 officials from the PPA watched you park in an illegal space and not one told you not to, and while one hides behind a pole calling a tow truck parked around the corner waiting for you to leave?
