What's the right to speak without the right to be listened to?
Over at YPP there is a great discussion happening of the Imagine 2014 plan and the role (or lack there of) that students, teachers, and communities play in the plan.
"And then the draft of the plan came out. Almost nothing from the Highly
Effective Educators working group was a part of it. We had identified
teacher equity and site selection as our top priorities, and neither
was included. Nothing from the district's session with PSU was in the
draft either. I was disappointed, but I thought that maybe the word
"draft" would open opportunities for real engagement."

Dan's post echoes the
Dan's post echoes the frustrations that a lot of community members felt after seeing that their input was largely left out of the District's final plan. I was a member of one of the District's strategic plan working groups that was tasked with developing a piece of the district's draft plan. Like Dan, I participated in numerous meetings over the course of about a month and a half. At the end of the process, several people in my group were disapointed to find that our comments, concerns, research---and even our data-supported solutions---had not been incorporated into the draft. I think that some people were left questioning whether the District was sincere in their calls for community involvement.
