Heidi Ramirez resigns from the School Reform Commission

Heidi Ramirez, the first Latina ever appointed to the School Reform Commission and the youngest member at the age of 35, resigned yesterday with tears in her eyes.  The Commission will not look the same, not because Heidi is slated to be replaced by a republican, which will change  the face of the Commission, but because she not only asked hard questions and held people accountable for the Latino community but for every community.

The SRC is made up of all democrats right now but serves as a clear example of how political party affiliations do not really matter.   It's not as if anyone else on the Commission is asking the same hard questions.  So we know that it doesn't matter what political party you line yourself up with but it's where your interests lies; with the wealthy or with the people.  It's clear that anyone, no matter what side of the politcal party spectrum you sit on, that questions budgets and/or contracts
and who holds people, institutions, and corporations accountable is
feared and must be pushed out.  Heidi you will be missed by this Latina, not because you cared about the Latino community but because you cared about ALL communities and the people.
