Join the campaign for "Effective Teaching for Every Child" in Philadelphia
In the coming weeks, the School District of Philadelphia and the
Philadelphia Federation of Teachers will negotiate a new, four-year
teacher contract. This is an important opportunity to influence the
negotiations and to make sure our students and teachers have the supports
they need to succeed in our schools.
All the parties involved in the negotiations must do everything in
their power to ensure that all children in Philadelphia’s public
schools have effective teachers.
The Philadelphia Student Union in
partnership with other members of the Philadelphia Cross-City Campaign,
are sponsoring a campaign calling for four important policy changes in
the next contract:
- School-based hiring practices
- Better incentives to draw teachers to hard-to-staff schools
- Enhanced standards and fair evaluation procedures
- Better teacher development programs.
As part of this campaign, we are collecting thousands of signatures from
people who support this agenda for change. We can use your help.
